ARBOR DAY MULCH EVENT

FREE MULCH!

On Arbor Day weekend, Blade & Timber hosted our second annual ‘Axe of Love’ event, which is dedicated to reforestation and appreciating the great outdoors.

Axe of Love mulch was made from upcycled axe targets and was available for pick-up April 26-28. Blade & Timber donates all proceeds to One Tree Planted, a non-profit dedicated to reforestation. $1.00 = 1 TREE PLANTED

HOW IT WORKED

People from the community signed up to pick up bulk mulch from our upcycled target boards at Blade & Timber KC | West Bottoms.

  • We scheduled pick up times for participants to claim mulch on a first come, first serve basis.
  • Mulch was FREE, but any donation made went straight to One Tree Planted through Blade & Timber’s Axe of Love program.
For any donation $20+, donors received one free Shared Lane voucher to Blade & Timber!

ABOUT OUR MULCH

Each day, our Blade & Timber facility uses dozens of Douglas Fir boards as axe throwing targets. Rather than dump the splintered wood in a landfill, we are changing the game with a sustainable, zero-waste approach.

We turn our worn out targets into beautiful mulch for your springtime lawn care needs. Every dollar of Blade & Timber’s mulch proceeds are donated to planting a tree.

Douglas fir mulch is best for landscaping around mature trees and bushes, along with making pathways and trails. When the mulch is gone, it’s gone! If you missed out this time, we’ll be producing more mulch throughout the year.

EARTH DAY LAUNCH

1,001 TREES PLANTED!

WHY WE DID IT
Each day, our Blade & Timber facilities use dozens of Douglas Fir boards as axe throwing targets. Rather than dump the splintered wood in a landfill, we are changing the game with a sustainable, zero-waste approach.

We’re turning targets torn up by our axe throwing fun into beautiful mulch for your landscaping needs. Every $1 of Blade & Timber’s mulch proceeds will be donated to planting one tree.

Soon, Blade & Timber will be planting far more trees than used in our facilities.

HOW WE DID IT
On Earth Day 2018, we launched our Axe of Love sustainability initiative to rally the community around slinging axes and planting trees. More than 100 volunteers showed up to bag mulch made from our splintered wooden targets and then throw axes for free.

In just 1.5 hours, volunteers filled 400 bags of mulch, for sale at Blade & Timber. We can’t thank the community enough for the overwhelming support!

We have BIG plans to host Axe of Love volunteer events at all Blade & Timber locations soon.
