Fire Damage at Blade and Timber Lawrence on Oct 28 2019

Blade & Timber Lawrence is currently closed.
On Oct. 28, 2019, our space was affected by a fire that caused major damage to our business. Thankfully, no one was hurt in the fire. We’re working on a plan to move forward but are waiting to learn more about the extent of the damage.

We are incredibly grateful to the Lawrence Fire Department for moving quickly to keep ourselves and our neighbors safe.

Blade & Timber Lawrence combines our love of throwing axes with our passion for the lumberjack lifestyle, selling a variety of outdoor sporting equipment and merchandise. At Blade & Timber Lawrence, we offer a one-of-a-kind retailtainment experience, with Paul Bunayan-inspired shopping and four axe throwing lanes to test out our products.

We are conveniently located on Mass Street in the heart of Jayhawk country. Our co-founders both attended KU, making this location one of our proudest – as the only opportunity for axe throwing in Lawrence.

Oh, how convenient

What People Are Saying

Amazing experience! A bunch of friends and I went and it was a great way to have some fun before finals. The staff was super super friendly and supportive. Nothing compares to when the axe sticks in the board! There was also a book of games to choose from for a bit of friendly competition!

Such a FUN thing to do! I was visiting my son at KU (I’m from L.A.) and it was something so outside the box to do. Wish we had more friends in our party but had the best time!

Awesome place!  My wife got this for me as a Christmas gift and it was awesome.  They do a great job of giving you enough instruction to have fun but still have time to do some throwing.  My sister, my wife and I had an awesome time and we were all able to consistently stick it in the wall.  Fun time and we can’t wait until they start leagues!

Is Axe Throwing Safe?

Yes! We have taught thousands of guests how to successfully and safely throw an axe for more than 3 years. In fact, we've helped establish industry standards across the nation!

We're committed to making the learning process easy and fun with the help of our Axe Safety-Certified coaches. Every group will receive one-on-one training before you ever pick up an axe.

We've worked hard to increase the accessibility and safety of axe throwing, teaching blind, deaf and differently-abled guests how to nail the bullseye! Email us at hello@bladeandtimber.com if you have any questions.

Will there be training?

Our certified coaches will always demonstrate proper safety and axe throwing techniques during your first few throws. Coaches are present throughout the experience for questions and to help you master your bullseye.

Can children participate?

Children 10 and older are allowed to join in! But minors (under 18 years old) must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

Blade & Timber provides a smaller axe size when needed to help you master the bullseye!

If we doubt the capabilities of a minor to safely throw an axe, our coaches will not allow the minor to participate.

Can I bring my own food/drinks?

You are more than welcome to bring food and snacks. You are not permitted to bring your own alcohol.

Groups who rent the whole facility are permitted to have catered food and drinks. Ask us about our partnerships with some of the local restaurants we love!

What are your store hours?

Check our Locations page for each store's regular business hours. We could potentially open by appointment anytime, just email hello@bladeandtimber.com

Can I rent the whole place?

Absolutely! We have a few details on our Group Events page, along with a Group Event Request Form that you can fill out in just a couple minutes.

Pricing varies by location.

What should I wear?

You absolutely MUST wear closed-toe shoes. Other than that, we encourage folks to dress comfortably. Also, we love flannel.

Can I bring my own axe?

Our lawyers tell us that we cannot allow you to throw your own axe, unless it was purchased directly from Blade & Timber. One of our coaches must inspect it each time you visit.
